2026 Draft Recap: The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

Eighteen years of this. Eighteen years of grown men convincing themselves that a fantasy roster built in a group chat will finally be the one that matters. It won't. Half of you drafted like you learned nothing from last season, and the other half drafted like you learned the wrong thing entirely. Let's go around the room.

The Teams

Token Effort (Chris) — You kept Rashee Rice at 4.10 and Bucky Irving at 12.10, which is fine, that's last year's homework. The actual work this year was Gibbs at 1.1, then three straight receivers (Nabers, Olave, and eventually Tucker Kraft at TE) before finally remembering quarterbacks exist and grabbing Hurts at 6.10. You have two championships, both from a decade-plus ago (2010, 2014), and you're currently on a 12-year drought that this roster does nothing to convince anyone is ending. LaPorta Potty finished 3rd last year — respectable, forgettable, exactly your brand.

I cashed @ WSOP x 8 (Ernie) — Four running backs in your first four picks: Bijan, Henry, Kyren, Jacobs. That's not a strategy, that's a hoarding disorder. You've made the playoffs twice in eleven seasons and have zero championships to show for any of it, and the "longest title drought" award in this entire league has your name on it. Stacking aging legs behind Bijan doesn't fix that, it just means when it breaks, it breaks in stereo. The franchise rebrand from "x5" to "x8" cashes is the only inflation happening on this roster.

Seal Team Nix (Austin) — Congratulations on winning it all last year, now please shut up about it. Chase at 1.3, Smith at 3.3, a whole receiving corps before you drifted into Bo Nix as a kept 10.8 luxury, and yet your career record sits at 116-126 despite five rings. Five championships and a losing record is the most "Austin" stat in this document — you peak exactly when it counts and coast the other 90% of the time. Enjoy year one of the new drought clock; it's already ticking whether you admit it or not.

Gronkey Punch (Mike B) — CMC at 1.4 is the safest pick in the building, and then you followed it with London, McBride, Flowers, and Maye, which is a nice receiving room attached to a team that went 4-11 and finished dead last a season ago. One championship, back in 2020, and every year since has been a slow jog away from it. Nothing about this draft says the floor gets any higher — you just have better names doing the losing this time.

Mike R — Most wins in league history, most playoff appearances in league history, and somehow last year you went 5-10 and missed the tournament entirely while your team was literally still named "The Reign." A.J. Brown and Amon-Ra St. Brown at 1.5 and 2.6 is a fine top of the roster, but you punted TE and QB (Bowers not till 6.6, a quarterback not till 7.5) the same way you punted your season. History says you'll be back in the mix. History also said that last year.

Devin — You didn't take a quarterback until 10.5 (Stafford) and didn't take a tight end until 11.6 (Kelce), which either means you nailed your WR/RB core early or you forgot those positions existed until Round 11. One championship, and it's from 2008 — the actual first year of this league — which means you have gone every single season since without winning it again. Nacua and Kenneth Walker up top is fine. Fine doesn't erase an 18-year gap.

Bud Light from Target (Brandon) — Lamb and Collins at 1.7 and 2.4 is a real one-two punch at receiver, and then you waited until 8.4 to take a quarterback, which is its own kind of confidence. You went 9-6 last season and still missed the playoffs entirely, finishing 7th, which is the fantasy equivalent of doing everything right and getting nothing for it. One title, back in 2018, and the team name still reads like a threat nobody followed through on.

JSN Derulo (Kevin) — Jonathan Taylor at 1.8, then Justin Jefferson fell to you at 2.3, and you added Garrett Wilson at 4.3 and Burrow at 6.3 without reaching for anything. That's the best winning percentage in league history doing exactly what it does — showing up to a board that keeps handing you value it shouldn't. Two championships and 13 playoff trips is genuinely obnoxious at this point, and yes, JSN and Tyler Warren were kept, so don't go crediting this draft for those — the actual work here still looks better than everyone else's.

Etienne Ass (Chris R) — One season in this league, a 6-9 finish, and you responded by drafting eight wide receivers. Eight. Hampton at 1.9 and Etienne at 6.2 are your only real answers at running back behind a Lamar Jackson QB pickup at 4.2, which means if either back sneezes you're starting a receiver at flex out of sheer desperation. Welcome to the league; you already have a losing record and a roster built like you're trying to set a record nobody asked for.

Deebo my Lemons (Chad) — Barkley, Allen, McMillan, Loveland — a genuinely balanced first four rounds, which is more than most of this room can say. Doesn't matter. You haven't won since 2015, you went 4-11 last season, and "Balto more!!!!!" reads less like a team name and more like a cry for help at this point. Balance in April means nothing if the season still ends the same way it has for eleven years running.

Awards

Fine, I Guess: Kevin (JSN Derulo) Fine. Jonathan Taylor at 1.8 and Justin Jefferson falling to you at 2.3 is the kind of board-collapse luck that makes the rest of us want to quit the league, and adding Garrett Wilson and Burrow later without reaching is almost insulting. Doesn't mean anything — you already have the best winning percentage in league history and 13 playoff trips, so this is just the rich getting richer while everyone else scrambles for scraps. Don't get used to the compliment, it's the only one in this document and it's already regretted.

Please Sit Down: Ernie (I cashed @ WSOP x 8) Four running backs in the first four rounds, headlined by Derrick Henry and Josh Jacobs, both of whom have plenty of tread already worn off. You have zero championships in eleven seasons and the longest active title drought in the entire league, and this draft reads like a man trying to out-hoard his own bad luck instead of fixing anything. Stacking redundant, aging backfield pieces behind Bijan Robinson isn't a plan, it's a monument to every year this hasn't worked yet.

Bold Predictions

Mike B's receiving corps will look great on paper right up until Gronkey Punch finds a way to finish 10th again, because that's apparently a settled fact of the universe now. And Chris R, a full season into this league, will discover that eight wide receivers and a running back room built on fumes gets you a finish worse than 9th — proving that last year's 6-9 wasn't a fluke, it was a floor.
